When Mark ‘High Gear’ Sherrod loses his nerve after a devastating crash, the race car driver takes the relatively mundane job of driving a taxi. Mocked by the other drivers, High Gear settles for a simpler life and befriends a cute reporter while taking Jimmy, the young son of his deceased mechanic under his wing. Desperate circumstances renew his courage and bring him back to the thrill of the race track.
